Good day my fellow crafters,
Last year there was a blog hosted a series of challenges that went through Tim Holtz's book Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 2. I didn't get a chance to participate but this year, with the launch of the newest series of challenges based on CCC Vol. 3, I am definitely diving right in. Here is the link to the blog, which you should absolutely check out..Studio L3.
So, to begin the challenge uses the technique, Paint Marbling, as outlined on p. 43.
I chose colors that I liked, and also used Tim's stencils and Distress Ink.
Once the paint was dry, I added more interest with the stencil and ink. I went over some of the areas with a white gel pen to make certain areas stand out. I stamped my saying, while also adding strips of washi tape for texture. I knew that I wanted to use an Asian stamp, so the washi paper fit right in. Finally I painted over metal foliage pieces and pulled some of the paint off to give a distress look.
Here is the completed card, Graycie seemed to approve! lol. I stamped the saying using Memento Ink and colored in the image using Copic markers!
And of course I had to jazz up the inside.
Hope you enjoy the card and don't forget to check out Linda's blog. If you want to partake in the challenges, pull out your own copy of Tim's book or buy one if you don't already own this treasure trove of techniques!
Oh that curious cat!!! Love it! Gorgeous card...love the images and your painty colors! Thanks for joining us on the first challenge here at CC3 Challenges!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie. Your card is so pretty! Your marbled pieces you made look amazing! Love the stenciled pattern you added. I also love the addition of the washi tape and the white paint pen. Your Asian themed card turned out beautifully. I love the interior of your card with the two accent stripes as well. I agree with Graycie and totally approve! Thanks for joining us at CC3C. <3 Candy
