Afternoon all my crafty peeps,
I know it's been a bit since my last post, but I thought I'd let you know what's been taking up all of my free time.
It was a project that I purchased at Paper Phenomenon, known as The Makeup Case. The picture below sends you to the website...
I've been working on this for a while, doing it here and there. Keep in mind that everything is made by hand. I've changed the decor, so here is what mine is looking like at the moment.
I'm still not done, I'm about 60% there.
Now, I want to give you my opinion about this project. It's not for the faint of heart.
Kathy, the owner, often says that it's a labor of love and she is not joking. Her company has interesting projects, and if you are just starting out, don't start with this one.
I'd like to think of myself as an experienced crafter, and this project has been tough.
If you do decide to jump into the deep end, I can't stress enough, follow the cutting guide, NOT the video. Kathy's videos leave a little something to be desired. On many of them she is quoting the wrong measurements, often she has miscut chipboard, so there is downtime on the video while you are wait for her to return on camera as she goes and recuts.
Also, watch each portion of the video completely before you begin trying to follow her. Often she has assembled something incorrectly and is having to redo sections. She then gives tips on how you should have assembled certain sections at the end of the video. If you watch the video segments in their entirety first, you will have picked up on her mistake.
Overall, I think the project will be cool, but it's taken a bit out of me to try and get to the finish line. I worked on it all day yesterday, and I'm done for now.
Happy Crafting!!
